Siquijor

Siquijor

Discover the Healing Island of Negros Island Region, a destination rich in enchanting natural wonders and mysterious lore. The southernmost island in the Visayan island group sits just about 50 kilometers from the closest point in northwest Mindanao.

Cambugahay Falls

A captivating three-tiered waterfall known for its turquoise pools and refreshing natural cascades. Visitors can enjoy swimming and rope swinging into its clear, cool waters, making it one of the island’s most popular nature-based attractions. Recently gaining online attention for its enchanting “fairy walk,” the falls has become a visual favorite among travelers and content creators, blending natural beauty with a whimsical experience.

Balay Pahiuli

Discover Siquijor’s healing practices for warding off ailments and misfortunes, and attracting good vibes and whatever one desires. Indulge your curiosity at Balay Pahauli, which translates to “Hut of Restoration,” where you can partake in rituals and massages that purportedly remove sickness, evil spells, and unwanted energies.

Caticugan Marine Sanctuary

Managed by the People’s Organization in Siquijor, this protected marine area is home to corals, giant clams, sea turtles, several kinds of fish, such as clown fish, and other underwater creatures. Adventure-seekers and ocean-loving travelers are more than welcome to kayak, paddle boat, snorkel, and dive.

Old Enchanted Balete Tree

Take a dip at the fish spa, shop for souvenir items, and come sit in a natural pool of cold spring water that flows from the base of a 500-year-old tree. Curious folk travel across the planet to get a glimpse of the oldest banyan tree on the island, and to learn more about the lore of fairies and elves that supposedly live within it.

San Isidro Labrador Parish

A testament to colonial faith, local craftsmanship, and enduring heritage, the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church is one of Siquijor’s most treasured landmarks. Declared both a National Historical Landmark (1984) and a National Cultural Treasure (2001), the church features a striking neoclassical design built from coral stone and hardwood, highlighted by thick walls, soaring arches, and distinctive twin octagonal bell towers crowned with red onion-shaped domes. Inside, its original “retablo” (altar backdrop), dual pulpits, and beautifully preserved herringbone-pattern wooden floors reflect the remarkable artistry of the 19th century.

Lazi Convent

Standing adjacent to the church is the historic Lazi Convent, one of the largest and oldest convents in the Philippines. Completed in 1891 and built in the traditional Bahay na Bato style, the two-story structure served as a residence and retreat house for friars during the Spanish colonial period. Today, it houses the Siquijor Heritage Museum, where visitors can explore religious artifacts, cultural treasures, and stories that illuminate the island’s rich spiritual and historical heritage. Like the church, it is recognized as both a National Historical Landmark and a National Cultural Treasure.

Healing Festival

Rooted in Siquijor’s rich spiritual heritage and indigenous healing traditions, the Healing Festival celebrates the island’s unique identity as a center for wellness, culture, and mysticism. Held annually during Holy Week at Mount Bandilaan Nature Park, the festival transforms long-held perceptions into a distinctive tourism experience that honors traditional knowledge and local practices. Visitors can witness faith healers preparing traditional herbal potions, explore exhibits featuring native herbs, remedies, handicrafts, agricultural products, and locally processed food, and gain deeper insights into the island’s cultural and natural wealth. The festival offers a rare opportunity to experience firsthand the traditions that have shaped Siquijor’s enduring reputation as the Healing Island.
